A team of ten plucky volunteers from estate agent, Gascoigne Halman, donned Santa costumes to take part in the Manchester United Foundation’s annual Santa Run earlier this month, raising an impressive £600.
The estate agents were taking part to raise funds for their charity of the year, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity who provide support to the hospital so that they can provide additional help to patients and their families, providing resources that make life a little easier when they are facing prolonged stays in hospital or frequent visits.
Representing offices from across Gascoigne Halman’s seventeen-office network, the Santa Dashing estate agents secured sponsorship from friends and family and joined 1,000 others for the 5k run at Old Trafford where United star Ryan Giggs kicked off the festivities.
The 5k route, termed the ‘Serious Santa Run’ took runners past MediaCity, the Lowry and the Imperial War Museum , before finishing with a lap of honour of the world famous Old Trafford pitch.
The Santa Dash was the final event in Gascoigne Halman’s year of fundraising for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity which has seen staff baking cakes, jumping out of planes and taking part in an Olympic baton challenge. The final total raised during the year has yet to be revealed as the estate agent has yet to call in collection boxes which have been placed at their offices since the beginning of the year.
Commenting on the Santa Dash, John Halman of Gascoigne Halman said, “I’m really pleased that we had ten runners taking part in the Santa Dash and delighted to have another £600 to add to our 2012 fundraising pot.
“The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity does fabulous work which becomes even more poignant at this time of the year.”
Gascoigne Halman has supported a number of charities over the years including Children in Need, The Together Trust, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust and The David Lewis Centre. During 2010 they supported The Christie charity, raising £9,079.
