Estate Agent Goes the Extra ‘Square’ Mile

Cropped

Hazel Kimmett, Joanne Wallwork & Alan Savage

A member of staff from the Sale office of Gascoigne Halman, recently used her local connections, including that of the Sale Square Mile Community Group, in order to assist one of her clients who was struggling to cope after suffering a stroke.

Joanne first met the client when she was enquiring about a property in the local area. The local lady had been living in a residential facility whilst she was convalescing after a stroke and was looking for a smaller, easy to maintain property close to the town centre. Joanne takes up the story:

“The lady seemed to have no-one to talk to and had no family or friends close-by. The fact that she was also less mobile meant that she couldn’t get out and about to chat to people. Although she was an outgoing individual, it was quite clear she was feeling lonely and isolated.”

As part of Joanne’s role as an estate agent, she was already aware of the types of services that were available in the area and regularly kept-up-to-date with what was going on. Joanne also had a close link with Hazel Kimmitt, Council Officer from the Sale Town Partnership and the town’s latest community group, Sale Square Mile. It was this contact with Hazel that resulted in a number of organisations from across the community coming forward to offer their services and suggestions on activities that would allow the elderly lady to get out and about, as well as companionship services from Home Instead Senior Care, offering a chat and a cuppa in the comfort of her own home.

Joanne was inundated with offers of help and support, which will enable this local lady to; visit the Light of Hope Centre for meditation & therapy, play a quick spot of Mecca Bingo, indulge in monthly afternoon teas, join local society & leisure groups and much more. She commented, “When we talk to prospective buyers who are looking for a property in Sale, we can also provide them with information about what the area has to offer and how it can enrich their lives. Sale benefits from a variety of great schools, its own Arts Centre, sports clubs and green spaces but in the case of our elderly client, all that was really needed was companionship.”

Estate Agent Organises Hospice Fundraiser

Team GH

The team at Gascoigne Halman in Cheadle is challenging local businesses to enter a team in a charity 5-a-side football tournament in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.

The fundraising event will take place on the evening of Friday June 14th at Power League on Craig Road, Stockport. The entry cost is £80 per team with a minimum of £50 being donated to the hospice.

Leighton Snow, manager of Gascoigne Halman’s Cheadle office and organiser of the event said, “Anyone who has come into contact with St Ann’s will know what a fabulous place it is and what great work they do.

“Although their care is free of charge they have to raise £16,000 every day to deliver their specialised care so it’s fair to say they need as much help as they can get.

“We decided it would be great fun to challenge all local businesses to take part in a fun 5-a-side tournament. There will be food available on the night and a bar. We are hoping that families will come along and there is a separate pitch at the centre where young children can play.”

For more details, or to register your team, contact Gascoigne Halman in Cheadle on 0161 428 1118.
